Philanthropy has been one of the defining principles of the fraternity experience. Assembling collectively to support a cause transforms lives while providing awareness of important issues in the community. Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. created the Ray of Hope Walk to End Violence Against Women [ ROHW] . The ROHW happens concurrently in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta on October 6, 2018. Sigma Lambda XI Fraternity, Inc. has made the event apart of our fraternity event schedule. We share the reasons why we are supporting the event in order to inspire other fraternal organizations to attend.
A Commitment to Family
Our fraternity wants every family to be the fertile ground where love, talent and achievement are developed. We support any effort that brings harmony to the family unit. Ending violence against women keeps our wives and children safe. Men must to learn to teach their family how to build healthy relationships.
Creating a Conversation Among Men
The ROHW has created a shift in how women support and unite together under a cause. Men need to become apart of the conversation. As a source of violence against women, men have a responsibility to use their voice to create positive awareness. We have launched The Beacon of Hope Project that educates, empowers and engages men to end violence against women. Each man knows a brother that has the potential to cause harm. Through this project, we offer tips and resources that help eliminate this behavior.
A Demonstration of Unity
Unity is the state of being united or joined as a whole. In order to tackle this global epidemic, we must come together as one force to overcome violence against women. With unity there is strength. When fraternal organizations use its influence, we can amplify the message. We encourage campus, community and faith based organizations to attend the Ray Of Hope Walk in a city near them.
Sigma Lambda XI Fraternity wants to invite you to join our team in Atlanta. Sigma Beta Xi Sorority, Inc. is walking with us. You can make a difference through participation. If you are unable to attend, consider making a donation to the Ray of Hope Walk. Together we can create a world where women are safe to live, love and flourish.
